ISSUING PASSPORT FOR THE FIRST TIME

The submission of the application file must be made by the person concerned during the opening hours of the Consulate General (from Tuesday to Saturday).

The presence of children under the age of (12) twelve years is not compulsory provided that the photos submitted in their files are in conformity with the norms specified. Beyond 12 years, children must be accompanied by their father, their mother if the latter is not Algerian or the legal guardian.

The biometric passport application file includes the following documents (original + 1copy):

  • Valid consular registration card.
  • Passport form duly completed, dated and signed, to be collected from the consulate or downloaded
  • 12 S birth certificate of the person concerned.

Nationals born abroad must request their 12S birth certificate from the civil status service of the consulate covering the place of birth.

(NB: the foreign birth certificate must be transcribed beforehand with these consular services, see section civil status).

Nationals born in Algeria can request their 12S birth certificate via the Internet: http://demande 12s.interieur.gov.dz (See civil status section) or from the municipality of birth in Algeria.

  • An extract from the marriage certificate or an extract from the judgment of divorce, if applicable.
  • Written statement from the person concerned confirming their blood group or any document justifying the blood group.
  • The residence permit or the Italian identity card for dual nationals.
  • Work certificate for applicants exercising a professional activity.
  • Proof of address (electricity or gas bill, telephone, rental or property contract) or accommodation certificate legalized with the town hall of the place of residence
  • Scholar Certificate for students.
  •  Two recent and identical digital passport photos.
  •  Payment of chancery fees (60 euros); for students and minor children (30 euros).

Remarks :

Passport validity period: 10 years for adults and 05 years for minors.

Procedures for withdrawing the biometric passport:

Biometric passports are established in Algeria. Applicants can check the availability of their passports on the Consulate General's website .

Upon receipt of the new passports by the Consulate General, individual SMS are sent to the nationals concerned informing them of the availability of their passport and inviting them to collect them as soon as possible.

The passport is collected on presentation of the receipt of submission of the file and the old passport (even valid).

The presence of interested parties is compulsory.

The passport is collected by the Applicant or by the legal guardian for minors or by the mother (procuration approved by the municipality or by the consular services).

The 12S birth certificate will be returned when the passport is issued, with the printing of the NIN (National Identification Number).

Important:

The passport must be withdrawn by its holder as soon as he is informed of its receipt by the Consulate General.

Any passport not withdrawn by its holder is destroyed six (06) months after the date of notification of its availability by the Consulate General.

In this case, and except in a situation of justified force majeure, the stamp duty required for the request for a new passport is equal to twice the fixed stamp duty.
