Emergency Passport

The emergency passport is a non-biometric document, it is a machine-readable electronic passport printed in Algerian embassies and consulates and in some cases by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algiers. The passport validity is a non-extended period of 3 months to one year only, depending on the purpose of issuance.

The emergency passport is issued abroad in emergency cases and exceptionally for the benefit of:

•  Algerian nationals residing abroad and registered at a diplomatic or consular post,

1. 1. Those who do not have a passport and are forced to move abroad in a hurry for family, professional, administrative or health reasons,
2. 2. Those who are in temporary residence in a country other than their country of residence, and their passport was lost, damaged, stolen, or its validity has expired

• Algerian nationals residing abroad who are not registered at a diplomatic or consular post,

1. Those whose administrative status settlement file with regard to residency has been accepted by the authorities of the host country and are in need of a valid passport,

Documents needed to apply for an emergency passport:

• Written request explaining the purpose of the application for an emergency passport,
•   Document justifying the request for an emergency passport,
• Applicqtion form filled and signed by the applicant or by the legal guardian for minors, ( Download the form)
• Proof of Algerian nationality: copy of passport, birth certificate, S12...,
• Copy of the consular registration card for citizens registered at diplomatic or consular post,
• Two (02) digital, recent, identical, unframed photographs with a white background,
•  Payment of 60 € stamp duty,

  Remarks :

•  In the event of loss, theft or destruction of the passport, the file shall be accompanied by a statement issued by the local police authorities and the payment of a loss tax of 100 €,
• The emergency passport must be returned when the biometric passport is issued and claimed.
• The applicants must submit their applications to the Consulate General in advance (at least a week).  After studying and accepting it, an appointment will be set for the person concerned in order to issue the emergency passport.
• The applicants must submit the original of the documents sent by e-mail when coming to the appointment.
